I am an award winning real estate & economic revitalization consultant. I lived through the depths of the South Bronx's worst days, got myself out, but had to return to live with my parents while in graduate school. I considered it a defeat at the time with not a hint of sanctimonious "giving back" in me. I teach at Princeton Univ one day a week, and i'm quoted on the walls of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture: "Nobody should have to move out of their neighborhood to live in a better one" - which is the subtitle of my best selling book, Reclaiming Your Community"
